This is a ninth plate tinted ambrotype of a young man a wonderful push button, mother of pearl case.  The mat is signed “A. Chace, Artist” in the lower left corner.  There is some light crazing that is visible on close inspection.  The mat, preserver, and velvet trim piece are in very good condition.  The case still has the original spine, but it is slightly weak.
